PetRescue’s pet owner assistance program helps Pandora stay with her owner
The best outcome for any pet is staying with a family that they know and love. However, life changes and circumstances can sometimes mean that pet owners have to make the heartbreaking decision of finding new homes for them.
Pandora’s owner, Donna (who is based in Victoria) reached out to PetRescue’s pet owner assistance team to enquire about rehoming her adorable kitty cat.
When Donna had to start splitting her time between Victoria and New South Wales, she realised it wasn’t going to be easy leaving Pandora behind. Because of the distance (1,000km one-way), Donna was hesitant about taking Pandora on her trips, as she thought the long drive would stress her out.
When all options were exhausted, Donna turned to PetRescue's pet-rehoming assistance program - Home2Home.
PetRescue’s Home2Home team assisted Donna with creating an adoption profile for Pandora so she could find a new home for her via PetRescue’s adoption platform.
While helping Donna through the rehoming process, Susan, a behaviour-trained support team member of Home2home, shared some valuable tips that could help Pandora travel better in the car.
Deep down, Donna wasn’t prepared to let go of her family member. So for her next trip, Donna decided to act on Susan’s advice and take Pandora with her.
And not long after, Donna and Pandora had a breakthrough! Donna did all the things that were suggested and successfully road-tripped interstate - from Victoria to New South Wales - with her cat. Donna also said that Pandora settled well once the arrived.
Because of Pandora’s newfound confidence with road trips, Donna decided that she no longer needed to find her purry best friend a new home - which is the best outcome for everyone!
Home2Home, PetRescue’s owner assistance service helps pet owners in need find new and creative solutions which can help keep pets safe and out of a broken system.
